Solutions for optimizing your IT operation

Intelie Event Manager (IEM)
IEM is the real-time solution for information systems

What´s the Intelie Event Manager (IEM)?

IEM's Dashboard

A monitoring system capable of analyzing thousands of events per second and identifying tendencies and risk situations for IT and business areas. IEM receives data from different technologies, integrates with pre-existing monitoring systems, and also supports sending business metrics in real time.

Its innovative analysis technology allows to identify in real time the most relevant information, at the right granularity, from the large amount of data constantly produced in a data center. IEM can change your company’s monitoring paradigm by means of the following main characteristics:

  • Pro-activity on identifying and solving incidents through intelligent monitoring scenarios. This pro-activity is either applied to business, allows a greater agility on identifying opportunities and correcting eventual deviations;
  • Integration between technology teams in incident’s resolution through consolidation of monitoring information. The consolidation of intelligent information increases the situational conscience and avoids not only information overload but also knowledge segmentation between teams;
  • Positioning IT area as a business partner through real-time monitoring integrationof the business and IT area;

Why should I invest on this solution?

Return over investment and cost control:

The success cases show the high return on using IEM. It’s estimated a benefit of four-hour gain per month on availability per service. A way to measure it is multiplying this gain by the number of company’s critical services and one-hour-downtime cost to know how much it may represent to your company.

By focusing on operation team efficience, contributes significantly to headcount control;

Best practices on monitoring:

  • Besides the innovating system, IEM has a database with more than 100 intelligent-monitoring scenarios about different technologies and incident patterns. In addition to that, many professionals highly qualified, who nowadays work with big-data centers monitoring, will work on their schedule so as to create an optimized solution for their environment.

Some examples are:

  • Pro-activity: warn me when the average response time of a transaction is growing at least 10% every 2 minutes for 15 minutes, before it reaches a dangerously high value;
  • IT failure with impact on business: warn me when a backup routine is occurring outside the maintenance window and clients are experiencing slowness using the website;
  • Root-cause detection: warn me when the number of sessions in the frontend begins rising abruptly and the number of timeout errors becomes high;
  • Integrating business metrics: warn me when the aggregate value of transactions drops more than 20% in less than 5 minutes.

Visibility of IT on business:

Monitoring business metrics in real time allows you to identify the impact, both positive and negative, of IT on business. More simply, it’s a concrete way to measure value of IT at each instant. This fosters the value of IT managers to the organization.

How it works?

The IEM has a monitoring information bus, where self collectors, collectors specifically developed, or other monitoring systems publish the data from the collections. This information bus is the system’s gateway and, since it allows multiple protocols and support a simple event format, the activity of sending information to IEM is facilitated.

A correlation-event engine based on the Complex Event Processing technology (CEP) analyses thousands of events on the information bus and continually feeds charts, generates alerts through email and SMS, and triggers other systems for activity automation. This analysis is done over intelligent-monitoring scenarios which are available in the tool.

Through a web interface it’s possible to visualize all the charts and alerts so as to have a complete situational conscience of a service or operation as a whole. The same interface is used to the entire tool configuration, from the monitoring scenarios to the user’s profile access.

An historical module stores all events passing by the information bus. The display and analysis of historical data in detail, even over long periods of time, is done by an algorithm created by Intelie which selects the most important points in a long series values.
